I was in labor for 38 hours

I trained until 40 weeks pregnant.

Did all the hip mobility.

Ate a silly amount of dates and drank SO much raspberry leaf tea.

Gained the 'right amount' of weight.

... and STILL had labor complications, a baby stuck in my pelvis that had to be delivered with forceps, an episiotomy and prolapse issues.

That was just how things went, and it wasn't within my control.

But consider this...

What if I'd had an easy labor and delivery, and decided to share that it was because I'd trained until 40 weeks, did hip mobility and ate dates?

Imagine if I used my 'easy birth' as a marketing tool for a coaching program.

I mean, I did all the things that a lot of women who DO have easy, healthy births and recoveries also do in pregnancy.

Would that be ethical?

Would it be a good marketing strategy?

Would it bring in the coaching clients I really want to work with?

Those are a few of the questions Michelle Carroll, PhD and I answer on this week's episode of Building A Coaching Business In Motherhood.

Because I KNOW how hard marketing can feel when you're postpartum,

trying to figure out how to sell your coaching but feeling uncomfortable in your body, exhausted and scrolling Instagram for inspiration.

So Michelle and I cover:

  • the pros and cons of marketing using your postpartum body and experience
  • the difference between intention and how your marketing is received
  • how healthism shows up in post partum marketing
  • how to market your coaching to bring in clients you love to work with without making it all about 'how do I lose the baby weight'.

There is SO much in this episode- give it a listen and let me know your thoughts!

Talk soon,

Gillian Bennett

Every year I see business coaches talking about Black Friday deals as a 'quick cash injection' strategy, But that makes it sound so much easier than it actually is. And I HATE the idea of you spending time and energy you can't really spare on preparing for a launch, posting on stories like crazy even in moments you told yourself you'd be off your phone, and ultimately ending up with two sales. A thread that runs through my work with mentorship clients: your business strategy needs to work for...

The first month of my son's life, I did A LOT of scrolling. The algorithm very quickly picked up on the fact that I was a new mom, and it started feeding me video after video about baby sleep, latching positions, and what's 'normal' for a newborn. In one 30 minute nursing session, I probably got at least six different pieces of advice thrown at me... and when you're a new mom with no f*cking clue what you're doing, you don't have the self-trust yet to know what is for you and what to ignore....

It can be SO much harder to reposition and revive your business, message, or program than it is to start from scratch. Not because of the actual strategy or tasks needed... but because of the sunk cost fallacy. When you've already put a TON of effort, time or energy into something in your business, letting it go feels like a failure or a waste... even if it's not working. This conversation came up with one of my newer mentorship clients, a hybrid online/in person PT who started her business...
