how do you trust your own judgement?

The first month of my son's life, I did A LOT of scrolling.

The algorithm very quickly picked up on the fact that I was a new mom,

and it started feeding me video after video about baby sleep, latching positions, and what's 'normal' for a newborn.

In one 30 minute nursing session, I probably got at least six different pieces of advice thrown at me...

and when you're a new mom with no f*cking clue what you're doing, you don't have the self-trust yet to know what is for you and what to ignore.

If you're an online nutrition or fitness coach, you probably get a stupid amount of business advice coming through your feed.

When you're feeling a bit shaky in your approach, you'll do anything to help you increase your client roster or create content that actually hits with your audience...

And when you don't have the self trust needed to to filter out advice that isn't relevant to you, it can feel like you're just trying things out and hoping they work.

Self trust doesn't mean you know all the answers.

When you have self-trust, you know yourself and your values well enough to be able to make choices about what information you take in, and what you can swipe past.

In motherhood, you build self trust in relationship with your child-

as you learn them, interact with them, and experience them, you build trust in your ability to mother.

In business, you also build self trust through relationship.

The relationship to yourself, of course.

AND the relationship you build with your support/guidance network.

When I trusted myself least in business and was constantly changing direction based on what it looked like worked for other people?

It was when I was mostly alone with my own thoughts and my algorithm.

When I've made the BEST, most aligned decisions in my business?

When I was clear on my values, moving towards the life I want to live... and had guidance tailored to ME.

In this week's episode of the Building a Coaching Business in Motherhood podcast I share three filters you can use to increase your self trust in your business...

So you can stop letting the noise and chaos of the online world get in your head, and make decisions that actually align with the kind of life and business you want.

Whether you listen to this episode or not, just pay attention today to how much advice or information is thrown at you on the internet.

... and if you had more self trust, would that change how you experience that advice/info?

Talk soon,

Every year I see business coaches talking about Black Friday deals as a 'quick cash injection' strategy, But that makes it sound so much easier than it actually is. And I HATE the idea of you spending time and energy you can't really spare on preparing for a launch, posting on stories like crazy even in moments you told yourself you'd be off your phone, and ultimately ending up with two sales. A thread that runs through my work with mentorship clients: your business strategy needs to work for...

It can be SO much harder to reposition and revive your business, message, or program than it is to start from scratch. Not because of the actual strategy or tasks needed... but because of the sunk cost fallacy. When you've already put a TON of effort, time or energy into something in your business, letting it go feels like a failure or a waste... even if it's not working. This conversation came up with one of my newer mentorship clients, a hybrid online/in person PT who started her business...

For the first 3-ish months of work after my maternity leave, something felt really off in my business. I had one of my best launches ever right when I came back, riding the tails of my marketing from pre-baby... But once that was over, I felt like I was walking through mud trying to create new content and speak authentically to my old ideal client. I'd just gone through one of the most life changing experiences a human can go through, and for some reason I expected myself to just waltz back...
