what's saved me most in the last year

I am honestly so sick of talking about baby sleep so we're not going to do that today ok?

(but for the record, I'm exhausted)

As silly as it sounds, what's saved me most in the last almost year of motherhood was shifting my mindset around sleep and exhaustion.

I used to be very much an 'I need 8 hours of sleep or I am useless' type person.

The mindset shift I started practicing as soon as our little dude was pulled into this world (I had a forceps birth) was...

'I can do things even when I'm tired'.

Though even on 8+ hours of sleep pre baby, I was still little ol' ADHD squirrel brained me,

My brain LOVES jumping from thought to thought, sometimes hyperfocusing for hours and sometimes struggling to get through a 15 minute task.

And surprise to NO ONE, but my squirrel brain is so much worse when I'm exhausted.

Problem is... my business depends on my brain.

So telling myself the story of 'I just struggle to stay focused' isn't just unhelpful, in the past it actively kept my business from growing.

Because anytime I'd get distracted, I'd just see it as proof of what I already believed instead of an opportunity to learn how to better manage my distraction.

And this is what I've learned actually helps me focus (even when, like today, I could use a 3 hour nap)

  1. Being VERY specific about tasks or they're probably not getting done.
  2. If I get blocked on a creative task (like content creation), I probably need to press pause instead of trying to push through, and come back to it later.
  3. I HAVE to constantly circle back to my intention over and over (you know what I mean if you did the Strategy Audit)
  4. Random ideas WILL pop up in my head as I'm trying to focus, so working with my brain means capturing them and going right back to the task at hand instead of letting my brain run with an idea.
  5. Visually, I need to be facing something boring, not something that needs to be done (if there are dishes in the sink or laundry to be folded, it cannot be within my sight)

Working with my brain instead of against it is a form of compassion.

Because compassion has nothing to do with making excuses for myself or letting things slide...

It's about learning how to support myself through the challenging parts of my life in a caring, helpful, and sometimes fierce way.

Talk soon,

Business coaches on IG will not shut up about sales plans, strategies and funnels. (and they have a point, that sh*t is important, but stay with me) Maybe you've spent hours and hours planning and mapping yours out. Then a client or two leaves and you panic and start posting 'DM me for coaching' even though you weren't planning on launching until next month. Next thing you know, the sales plan you spent so much time on ends up lost somewhere in your Google Drive. That's what I call losing...

(TW: miscarriage) I am not an anxious person, but when I got pregnant with baby L, my anxiety was sky-fucking-high. (I lost a pregnancy in 2024, and I was terrified I'd lose him, too) Most people in my immediate circle didn't really get it. They either didn't have kids, never lost a pregnancy, or thought they were being helpful by trying to make me think positively. I felt like I wasn't being taken seriously... So I searched Reddit, and found post after post, comment after comment, with so...

I hired my first business coach in 2019. She was a little clueless about the fitness industry, but she knew business strategy like a BOSS. The problem was that she basically tried to bully me into focusing on corporate wellness programs... even though I shared that I had no desire to get into corporate wellness. Her strategy was solid- but it wasn't aligned with my vision for my business. And I see coaches going two different ways with their strategy- One, 'post on social media and hope...
